Health care

Jamestown VA Clinic

The Jamestown VA Clinic on 20th Street Southwest is part of the Fargo VA Health Care System. Records from your clinic visits are some of the best evidence for a claim, so describe your symptoms fully every time.

C&P exams

Exams Between Two Cities

Jamestown veterans may be examined at the Fargo VA Medical Center about 95 miles east, by a VA-contracted examiner, or by telehealth for some conditions. Call the scheduler early if a location won’t work.

Rural veterans

Farm Work and TDIU

Plenty of Stutsman County veterans still help on family farms despite service-connected conditions. That work can count as marginal employment for TDIU, depending on the details.

Rating Increases

How to Increase Your VA Disability Rating

Many Jamestown-area veterans were rated years ago and never revisited it. There are four common paths to a higher combined rating:

1. File for an increase on a worsened condition

If symptoms are worse than your current rating describes, file for an increase with recent medical evidence. The VA rates on current severity, so recent treatment records and a clear description of flare-ups matter.

2. Claim secondary conditions

A service-connected condition can cause others: sleep apnea or depression secondary to PTSD, radiculopathy secondary to a back injury, knee or hip problems from an altered gait. Each can be rated separately.

3. Look for conditions you never claimed, and TDIU

Tinnitus, PACT Act presumptives and old injuries are commonly missed. If service-connected conditions keep you from holding steady work, Individual Unemployability (TDIU) can pay at the 100% rate.

4. Respond fast if the VA proposes a reduction

If you get a notice that the VA plans to reduce your rating, you generally have 60 days to send evidence, and requesting a hearing within 30 days keeps your payments unchanged until it's held.

FAQ

Jamestown VA Disability Questions

Is there a VA clinic in Jamestown?

Yes. The Jamestown VA Clinic is part of the Fargo VA Health Care System.

Do I have to drive to Fargo for my C&P exam?

Not always. Exams are often assigned to contracted examiners closer to home, and some conditions can be examined by telehealth.

Can I get TDIU if I still help on the farm?

Possibly. Work in a family business or with earnings below the poverty threshold may be marginal employment rather than substantially gainful employment.

Is there free VA claim help in Jamestown?

Yes. Every North Dakota county has a Veterans Service Officer, and accredited VSOs like the American Legion, DAV and VFW help veterans file at no cost.

Are you affiliated with the VA?

No. We are a private company and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Veterans Affairs or any government agency. We help Jamestown-area veterans by phone and video.
